About me
Kate Berg, MA is a youth mental health advocate and education strategist with over fifteen years of experience leading systems-level change in school settings. Her work focuses on advancing equitable, trauma-informed approaches that support the mental health and well-being of young people and their families. Kate currently serves as Program Director of School and Justice Initiatives at the American Psychiatric Association Foundation, where she leads national initiatives to improve mental health literacy, cross-sector collaboration, and early identification and intervention in school and justice environments. She directs programs like Notice. Talk. Act. at School and supports training and resource development for school and district leaders, educators, and mental health professionals. Previously, Kate was Associate Director of Programs and Strategy at the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, where she led a national team supporting over seventy school districts in implementing policies and practices that promote whole child health. Her career spans public education, state government, and nonprofit leadership, including roles as a school counselor, MTSS coordinator, and leader of statewide student success initiatives. Kate holds a Master’s in School Counseling from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor’s in Developmental Psychology from Florida State University.
